John S. Leung is the Board Member representing Division II, the northern section of the City of Monterey Park and the southern section of the City of Alhambra on the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District’s board of directors. Mr. Leung was first elected to the Board in 1992, and re-elected in 1996, 2000, and 2004. John ran unopposed in 2008 and will serve until November 2012. He served as Vice President of the Board from 1999 to 2003 and currently serves as Secretary of the Board.

Mr. Leung has represented SGVMWD on the San Gabriel Valley Protective Association and the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority Board of Directors. Outside of the Board, Mr. Leung has served on the Executive Advisory Council of the College of Business Administration of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; member of the President’s Circle of Rio Hondo Community College; member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Board of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership; and Chairman of the Board for the El Monte/South El Monte Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Leung has lived in Alhambra and Monterey Park for seventeen years. He holds an MBA in management and a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Before establishing his own real estate development company, he worked as an engineer for the City of Los Angeles Building Department and for CalTrans. Mr. Leung also holds a California Professional Civil Engineer’s Certificate. He is also a member of the American Water Works Association.
